So let’s say that after the idiotic debates about a former President has immunity for any crimes they may have committed while in office gets sorted out and the actual trial regarding Trump’s involvement in the January 6th insurrection attempt is about to begin. Only Trump is now President again, and he pardons himself from any punishment, making the trial moot. Only in order to accept a pardon, one has to admit their guilt. But he would admit guilt that he was involved in an insurrection. Which, according to the US Constitution, means that he cannot serve in office. The pardon would not apply, since a) the Constitution is the ultimate arbiter and it requires a supermajority of both houses to override the automatic dismissal from office.
Oh, and the case about the actress, the phony newspaper owner, the publicity-seeking ex-lawyer, the odd bookkeeping practices, and boy is Melania pissed; is irrelevant. In Trump’s inverted, inside-out realm, importance remains crucial. Leaving that world appears rather nonsensical. Sorry Melania.
