On January 6th, 2021, about 15,000 of Donald Trump’s supporters gathered in Washington, DC. The events of that day are still being chronicled and examined. The event in its entirety has been called an “insurrection”. It was certainly not individuals who came to the Capitol to peaceably petition Congress. But one must consider what drove so many people in a nation that prides itself on freedom and democracy to stage an insurrection, or whatever it was. We do know we all got a preview in the film, Network. 15,000 were effectively screaming out their smartphone window yelling, “We’re mad as Hell, and we are not going to take it anymore!”. I have written three articles, with more planned. They reviewed the multiple root causes of the insurrection, which go back many years. The topics highlighted are not always examined to show the widespread causes. The intention of the series is to show the multiple and often interconnected events that brought on the events of January 6th, 2021.
