Redwoods, so peaceful and awe-inspiring. Stayed at an RV park near some gift shops and a cafe. Drove the RV around to a couple of short hikes along the Avenue of the Giants. Go there. Thought of my parents, who visited San Francisco and the Redwoods.
After we left the Redwoods, we traveled to another relaxing park in Crescent City, California. Our youngest son, Kevin, met us at the campsite. He was living in Portland, Oregon and visiting him there was the initial impetus to embark on a cross country RV trip. As luck would have it, he got transferred to Raleigh, North Carolina. He made a slight detour so our paths would cross in Crescent City. When we arrived at the campsite, Brad parked the RV near the camp office and went to register. While registering, he informed the office that our son and his dog, Bogart, will stay with us the first night. The woman in the office pointed out the window across an open field and asked Brad, is that them? I had already seen them and was already talking to Kevin. It was so wonderful to see him and Bogart. Mitzvah and Bogart look similar, only blonde with blue streaks in his ears and tail. The dogs ignored each other; it was the first time they met, and Mitzvah was jealous.
The Redwoods, so huge and relaxing, an on the road reunion in a well-spaced and landscaped campground was a welcome contrast after San Francisco.
