A Day in John Steinbeck Country

We are at Marina Dunes RV Park. I can walk to the Pacific Ocean!! Mitzvah was so excited. Two chocolate labs were playing together. Usually she doesn’t care for big pups (these were 1 year olds) but she went running after them, eventually herding them.  She stopped short at the water’s edge, she’s not fond of water. I stepped in the water. So pristine warm compared to the Atlantic.

Today we spent the day in Salinas and Monterey.  The Steinbeck museum, then Cannery Row. Appetizers at 2 different waterfront restaurants, then a drink and dessert at another. One part of Cannery row is restaurants competing to get you to buy their clam chowder. Each one gives you a free sample of clam chowder.  Filled up on that for some time!  Got at least 5 free samples. Happy Hour is all along that part of the row, $4 margaritas, a champagne OJ drink, Bloody Mary and beer or wine.  We each got a margarita at one place.

When we first got to California I couldn’t wrap my head around the fact we were here, so far from home. Now, I am loving it. This place is awesome. The weather is great. Low 70’s.
