Austin TX, Bats and Chile

Austin is a huge beautiful city that is hot, hot, hot.  The first night we were there we went to see the bats that live under the South Columbia Avenue Bridge. As many as 70,000 or even more come out at dusk, take off over the city and eat all of Austin’s bugs!   I have always loved bats so it was a highlight of my life moment.  For any of you who don’t know, bats will help another bat giving birth.  Then we stopped at a bar for drinks where we met a woman who told us her life story.  It was the first of many life stories we would hear. As it turned out we took a lot of Ubers during our travels and got to hear many of the driver’s life stories.  I like exchanging life stories, isn’t that what communication is?

Next day, we went to Zilker Park, which is huge.   Inside the park is Barton’s Creek. A large section of it open to the public for swimming and Kayaking. You can also just sit on the rocks in the shade and cool off in the water. The Real feel temp was 110, so when Brad decided it was a lovely day to take walk around the park I decided  to sit on a rock that was submerged in the water. I watched people and dogs, there were lots of dogs there, off leash, and having the time of their lives.

We met up with a former college roommate of our son, Kevin, for supper at the Texas Chili Parlor. Delicious chili and was wonderful to see John again  He is a sweet guy.
