Today we took the hop on – hop off bus tour. Worth it. Just remember to tip your guide and the driver. They are the ones who make the trip worth it. Informative ride around the city, learning about the architecture, art, the history and the culture. As Salem “Halloween” people we had to get off at Mardi Gras World to see the huge figures that have adorned the floats in past years. So much fun. Our first guide has a large group who she does a float with every year. She told us that the people on the floats get so drunk that they are harnessed onto the float for their own safety.
We then hopped back on and got off for a final time in the French Quarter, which we both enjoyed. Appetizers of boiled crayfish, while listening to live music. Then we walked and window shopped. Stopped for an excellent catfish meal with creole spinach for me. Best spinach I’ll ever have. Some words on the food; the less touristy the better. Tried a little of everything while there- shrimp, crayfish, catfish. I love gumbo, jumbo, rice and beans. I love bread pudding and they sell that most places. It was delicious at this place. Then we took an Uber home to the RV.
