We Actually Loved Mississippi

We spent 3 nights at Clarkco State Park in Mississippi.  Huge and wonderful!!  Huge lake. We had a nice shaded spot near enough the lake that we could see it out our RV window and no one else came in until Friday night. We arrived on Wednesday and left Saturday morning. We were able to use the picnic bench near the lake and hang out.  It was our usual rest and clean time. I cleaned the whole RV and did laundry.

I woke on Thursday morning with a nasty looking rash on my right leg. I thought it was fleas and was freaking out about how I would get the fleas out of the RV. But Mitzvah didn’t have any, so that was unlikely. Then some people mentioned it could be chiggers, red bugs that bite you. Or poison ivy.  I finally agreed with a woman who said “that looks like something you brushed up against”. When she said it, it clicked in my head she was right. It never got itchy. The rash lasted a few days and it’s not swollen, just bright red dots all over. My diagnosis-contact dermatitis. I was exhausted and took a nap.

On Friday, I walked Mitzvah, then left her in the RV with the  A/C on while Brad and I took a walk. Butterflies, birds and even Baby toads!  We got lost and ended up walking in the back yard of cabins to get back home. As we were walking, suddenly there was a swing just waiting for us. Life is good. A walk in the sun, a swing in the shade, overlooking the lake. Couldn’t ask for more.

We also saw Huge anthills, red ants. Maybe they were the culprits who ate my right foot? After a nice steak supper, perfectly grilled by Brad, crispy outside, moist on the inside. My right foot swelled up and was itchy and sore. I ended up taking Claritin, (I can’t take Benadryl) Motrin and hydrocortisone cream. Then I iced it off and on for 2 hours I went to bed. It was much better in the am.

Also, some people I met, a very nice couple and a preacher whose brother is Oil Can Boyd, a former Boston Red Sox pitcher. Later, another guy who works there in summer, found us when we were lost and I begged a ride home to our RV. He also has a Class C motor home and he travels and usually stays at several different places for the summer and works at the campsite.
