Day 2. Nice walk near that babbling brook several times before we left Connecticut. Unable to get into the Promised Land campsite as we were late reserving due to aforementioned delays. Too bad, I was looking forward to bringing Mitzvah to the Promised Land. We were thinking we were going to spend Memorial Day weekend at a Walmart parking lot. But I finally realized we could call Good Sam’s club (RV club we joined) and they found a place for us. Just pulled in at 5pm to Ironwood Point Recreation Area in Greentown, PA. So far, so good.
A couple of days here at Ironwood just what we needed, some R&R after our bittersweet leaving. We had time to rearrange items that needed it in the RV.
Saturday morning was a bit nerve wracking as Mitzvah took off on me. Brad was cooking his potatoes and bacon in the van and undetected by us, we were getting smoke in the van. Brad and Mitzvah realized it at the same time, with Brad quickly turning on the vent and opening the door to air out Casey Jones. Mitzvah saw this as her opportunity to save herself and jumped out and ran two campsites away. So good though, she was scared but did listen and stayed.
Always an adventure. Will be much more careful in the future
This morning we slept in Then the toilet water backed up onto the bathroom floor. We quickly packed up to go to the camp’s dump site. Brad drove over and I walked with Mitzvah. Once Mitzvah and I got there we discovered Brad rinsing our poops away The tank had been blocked and when he took the cap off he was greeted with poops I took one look and thought “I cleaned up my fair share of shits in 27 years of nursing, I’ll leave this to him”. I did notify the owners who sent a worker over to help rinse. Then I went to them again and the owner came over and offered his advice.
Rest of day was walking around, sitting, having tea Did do laundry and the machines needed fixing. Decided I could never run an RV camp, owner fixed the machines. Now our next stop is Walmart. We need some items and as we travel without a car and have no reservations for tomorrow we will take advantage of their policy to let RV’s boondock there.
