For may years, 25 I believe, Joel Nichols was KMBC’s weatherman. I have written about this story in facebook, but I missed something. What I missed was that Kansas is different from other regions; we love our on air personalities. Joel is a witty guy, and his wit and intelligence was seen daily. I remember one Christmas Carol, my wife, sent him a Christmas card. There were these cats lined up to pull Santa’s sleigh, but one cat turns to Santa and commands, ” Enough with the whip, fat man,” and under this the caption read; “Why cats don’t pull Santa’s sleigh.”
That morning, Joel showed the card on air, and thanked Carol for sending it.
Joel will go on to do something. It is we, the audience, and the station who are the real losers.
