This is my favorite TV Western series. It starred Richard Boone playing a gunfighter for hire who went by the name, Paladin. I have watched many episodes over and over again, but my favorite episode is about an old outlaw, Pappy, who has come to the end of the line. He and his gang have robbed a bank and Paladin is hired to return the money. The Episode is titled “In an Evil Time”. Paladin finds Pappy with a broken leg after his horse had thrown him. Paladin sets the leg. Paladin gets him to lead him to the money. His partners are loose, and they too are looking for the money, and they don’t want to share it. Their plan is to kill Pappy and take the money. Paladin and Pappy fight off the remaining members of the gang, but in the fight Pappy is killed. At the end, Pappy asks Paladin to say a few words over him before dying. Paladin quotes Ecclesiastes 9:12&13 “For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them.”
